This is the DIO_SMA PCB Assembly Fixtures for Through Hole and Edge Mount Components.

Supported Sinara-Hw DIO-SMA Revision: v1.4.3

Important Notes: Amphenol RF 132203-12 is fitted instead of Delock 65848 SMA Through Hole Headers for better durability.

CAD

It is drawn in FreeCad 1.0 and is assembled with its built-in Assembly Workbench.

For nix-os user, running nix develop and then freecad can start the FreeCad.

Production

The parts should be printed from a durable plastic, preferably ESD-safe (ESD ABS or other ESD safe material with better glass transition temperature), with as much infill and as many shell layers as possible to maximize durability.

Thermal insulating silicone sheet in 0.3 mm and 0.5 mm thickness are needed to stick to the following faces of the fixtures to prevent the fixtures from melting due to soldering heat.

Usage

The user should solder the SMA Edge headers first and then solder the rest of the through hole components. Please read the instructions below.

  1. Place SMA Edge Headers onto the SMA_DIO_Edge_Components_Alignment Fixture.
  2. Slide the PCB in and then assemble the SMA_DIO_Edge_Fixture_Locating_Pin_Plate onto the fixture. This should lock the positions of the SMA Edge Headers.
  3. Solder the top side soldering joints of the SMA Edge Headers and then remove SMA_DIO_Edge_Fixture_Locating_Pin_Plate.
  4. Slide the PCB half way out. The PCB should still be seated on the the SMA_DIO_Edge_Fixture_Locating_Pin_Plate.
  5. Place all the though-hole components onto the PCB and then assemble the SMA_DIO_THT_Components_Holder onto the PCB.
  6. Flip the whole assembly around and remove the SMA_DIO_Edge_Fixture_Locating_Pin_Plate.
  7. Solder all the through hole components and the bottom side soldering joints of the SMA Edge Headers.
