For example:

AFWS
Booster
2-ch Thermostat
...

These items cannot be added to any crate, but may need some configuration options.

My suggestion would be as following:

use same vertical format for icons
if such crateless item being added, automatically open "Spare items" cart section (currently Spare cards), and place it to the end of the cart.
Introduce out-of-the-crate settings - which will be available in case card or item added to the "spare" section. Can be applied to such cards as stabilizer or thermostat as well.
introduce new (still vertical) design template for services and big stuff as AFWS and Booster.

This way such crateless items will act in similar way to normal cards except above mentioned cases.
