  • reduce fan speed to reduce noise and prolong fan life
  • report warning about fan failure

Any plans to implement this in the near term? My thermostats sound like they are trying to take off.

Might be worth implementing a 'low' and 'high' fan speed controlled by the board temperature (with a decent bit of hysteresis)?

In the light of https://github.com/sinara-hw/Thermostat/issues/115:

  • on current hardware revisions, default the fan to 100%. User may configure a curve if they want to try PWMing the fan anyway.
  • make sure that there are no fan power supply glitches when the fan is at 100% i.e. PWM is disabled
  • ignore the tacho since it seems most fans don't have both tacho and PWM
